Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Movie Night

So I am probably a big a movie fan as they come. If i had to live without movies, well I don't know if I could survive very well at all. Anyways, so last night, Thursday, Drexel decided to have a viewing of Wanted. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the movie itself was good, i saw it
already so it wasn't really a big thing for me. It was a fun movie though to watch with everyone.
After getting past Drexel's fantastic work of the lights, i.e. realizing that it was halfway through
the movie and the lights were still on, one could really enjoy the situation. If you saw the movie itself,
you would know about how it contains so much cheesy violence and action shots that it's almost
comical. And if that wasn't comical enough for you, you always could listen to the random comments
coming from the audience. Such necessary blurts as ddaaayyyuumm, whenever Angelina Jolie did
something provocative, or OHH SHIITT after seeing a bullet be put through like six heads in one
shot.
After the movie, a couple of friends and I went back to my room and we watched Juon, which is
is the japanese film that The Grudge was based off of. Well I will say this, few movies scare me
because i love horror movies, but the Japanese know how to make a movie. It didn't scare by
cheap "parlor magic tricks," it truly creeped me out. My friend was so scared that i had to walk her
back to her dorm, which is understandable. However, my roommate, who is a pretty steadfast guy
and is training for his third degree blackbelt, was so scared that he had to come with us because
he didn't want to be in the room alone. So this movie knows how to get inside you.
The best part of the night had to be the setting of my room. Outside the huge bay window of my
Towers dorm room, sits a ridiculously eerie tree. With every gust of wind, it scrapes up against my
window, creating a jarring sound, bringing the horror movie atmosphere to a new level. All said
and done, it was a great night, and i hope to host many more movie nights, so if anyone's interested,
leave me a post around my blog.

It would appear, at least to my browser, that either side of the text box has been cut off on only this post. Is anyone else seeing this, or is my browser being silly?
