First time at a casino!!woohoo!!i was all geared up and ready to go with my $20 bill in my pocket(good considering I'm always short of cash!) wondering I am going to be the world's greatest poker player! At the end of the day i think it was actually an interesting move from the part of the college fraternity to do something like this because it was a learning experience for me, as in I learnt how to socially interact with people, how to make new friends and also learnt about the lifestyle of people around me and the society I was about to start living in.And of'course last but not the least, i learnt about THE CASINO(considering i am going to be the world next best player of poker ;) ;) )!!!
Well don't get me any wrong,I'm just talking about the casino night at the Drexel campus that was held on Saturday the 21st to welcome the new kids into a new sort of an experience. But the thing is I was all messed up and really had no idea what it was going to be like. So i just made up my mind that it was going to be like a real casino with loud music, slot machines, poker games and REAL money!!!
It was only when i entered the hall(Creese student center) where this party was going on that i realized what it was;no slot machines,no actual gambling and just plastic tablet coins to be imagined as the money we won in the poker game!!!I was a bit upset(only in the beginning) considering my expectations, even though there was loud music, lots of food and fun. But i still think it was quite an experience for me because i really got to enjoy a lot. I got to meet new people from new places, got to interact with them and form new relationships with them. Everybody let their hair down and danced a lot and freaked out completely.
Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.
