Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Geno's

It was my first Friday at Drexel, and of course I getting ready for the long night ahead of me. Suddenly one of my roommates came into our suite with a few kids from our floor that we had just made friends with. She said that they were all going to take the subway to Geno's Steaks, and asked if I wanted to join. Of course I said yes, given that I had never been to Geno's before.
It was a quick walk to the subway stop from our dorm. The ride was about fifteen minutes back and forth including stops to switch lines. When we arrived at our stop, we had to walk about eight blocks to get to our destination. During the walk, I got to see how the city streets looked outside of Drexel's campus. It was exciting to be surrounded by a completely different type of area that I am used to seeing.
Unfortunately when we got to Geno's, I was not very hungry. Instead of ordering an "american with onions" (cheesesteak with american cheese and onions) I decided to get cheese fries. After getting our food, we all sat down at two tables outside of Geno's. It was a cold night, but the food warmed me up a bit. The cheese fries were good, but I was not as impressed as I thought I was going to be. Everyone enjoyed their cheesesteaks though and I plan to go back sometime again this year to try one.
My first Friday in Philadelphia was definitely a memorable one. It was a good experience traveling to Geno's. I became more familiar with the city and discovered fun and interesting things to do besides go to a frat houses and house parties.
