Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Ice Cream

For the weeks leading up to move in, I didn't really know what to expect of my new college home.  I wasn't particularly scared or nervous, and I was excited to be out on my own (not to mention bored because most of my friends went away to college almost a month before).  When the 18th finally rolled around, I was anxious to move in, but still unsure as far as what to expect.

When I got to Drexel, I was immediately impressed with how well organized move-in was.  I put everything away and said goodbye to my family.  Then I set about trying to figure out what there was to do here.  I wandered around campus aimlessly for a few hours, trying to find my way around until I finally resigned myself to go play Guitar Hero in my room.  Later that night, I went to the floor meeting, and found out that we would be having an ice cream social.

Having nothing better to do, and being unable to turn down food, I decided to go.  The ice cream was good, and I saw many new faces.  I met people who have similar interests, and made new friends.  While I've never really been a fan of things like ice cream socials (except for the ice cream part), I'm glad I went to this one.  It really helped make the beginning of my college life a positive experience.
