I can not write about a specific event I attended during my first week at school because I did not attend and event for more than two minutes. With this said I can move along and tell about the days prior to move-in and the first few days here at Drexel.
'Man o Man' was I waiting for move-in day. For reason that I do not completely understand Drexel starts much later than other universities. Therefor you are waiting around for three weeks without many friends available, but at least I had Halo 3. I decided to move in on Wednesday which was a day ahead of when most Freshmen moved in. This was a great decision because there was virtually no waiting at all for anything. Surprisingly the move-in was a simple process too. For the guys reading this blog who plan to go to Drexel I am about to give you some advice. First, Move in a day early, and second find a girlfriend about month before school starts because she will take care of everything you need to take care of college. Believe me I did nothing to prepare for school, she took care of all of it and so far I have had everything I need. Now that I am moved in it was time to get some food, well I did not realize that the cafeteria was not open for us until Thursday so I went down with my girlfriend and got some food. I was soon told that I was a bad guy by some Hanshubacker, or however you say it, employee. Luckily, we were aloud to eat for free in the caff though. The rest of the afternoon was spent setting up my 360 (xbox) and Internet. The Internet was really lame and took allot of time. Advice, IRT is not helpful, you are better off figuring it out yourself. I met a friend for dinner that night somewhere out in Philly and that concluded day one.
Day two was alright. Everyone pretty much moved in on Thursday ( day two) which made it a pain to get spots on elevators. I will elaborate on this a little, to the incoming students, the "lifts," as my roommate says are essential if you live above the first floor. Since many students will be living higher than the first floor a crowded elevator becomes a problem. My roommate and I went to the recreational center which was awesome. Our rec center has tons to do including an open gym, basketball courts, and badminton courts. This was definitely the best part of Day two. The next few days just kind of went along. I met a bunch of people and got used to the campus.
Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.
