Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Motivation in the Curriculum

I feel that the biggest motivation for me regarding the curriculum is actually attending class and listening to the opinions of my peers. Being surrounded by creativity and critical thinking almost always prompts me to consider new perspectives and reconsider existing opinions. Although i may not always participate in class as much as I'd like, i really enjoy listening to other people and it always kicks off my own thinking process.
Also, Project 1 was surprisingly an enjoyable writing assignment, probably because I like critical thinking and persuasive writing. I think the art of rhetoric is a truly fascinating topic because it dives right into the fundamental elements of social psychology and its interesting how the slightest manipulation of words may elicit very different reactions from a reader or audience. I enjoyed playing around with the structure of my paper and tweaking small things because in the end, it produces a very obvious difference.
