Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

motivation and interest plays a big role in writing and thinking

The curriculum has affected my motivation and interest in writing and thinking critically in many ways. The readings that are assigned every week help me understand what is going on outside the college world. Also, it makes me think about what solutions can be brought up from the article even though I cannot share it to the outside world, but can always share it within class discussions. The articles are a great way that has motivated me to keep reading because before college started my reading habit was horrible, I would not read anything and now that we have so much reading to do, I’m glad these articles keeps me reading. One reason why is because we have a quiz every week and I know if I skim through it I am not going to be able to answer all the questions.

Next, class discussions have a great impact on my motivation because I am shy to talk in front of people but this class gives me many opportunity to express how I feel. Even though I still haven’t engaged into many discussions, I feel that now being almost a month of class got me motivated not to be afraid of what I say because it is all about our opinions and they can’t be right or wrong. It’s a great way to make us think critically.

Lastly, project one was a big motivation and interest in writing and thinking. This assignment gave me a chance to wallow into things and make an essay out of it. It was motivating because ones I started I could not stop until I finished the essay. Throughout the essay it made me think about what happened during the event and what stuck out to me. I feel that little things like this give us a good motivation and interest in writing and thinking. It doesn’t hurt us it only helps us and in college that is what we need because throughout our years we will need to think a lot and write a lot.
