Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

English Class Curriculum

In high school, kids were used to having English class everyday, but in college its not like that.  A hybrid English class meets once a week but feels more tough then the regular class. Although there is more work to do while you are not in class, being in class feels more rewarding then usual. We discuss interesting articles and funny stories that relate to what is going on in the world right now, along with projects, essays and textbook readings. The curriculum seems more fun and gets students to become more active during class. It becomes more motivating when the professor makes the lesson more enjoyable for students like adding short videos or cartoons just to lighten to mood. Assignments like project 1 are fun to do because you get to choose your own topic and write about something you like rather then something you get stuck on. In this project I talked about my culture and how America is being affect by different cultures. Topics like these are what make class and outside work more interesting and fun to work on.
