Did you know that going to all-night parties makes you smarter? If you really think about it, you can see how this logic works. First off, this is a great way to meet people and network. For example, you have nothing to talk about with the guy next to you, but you are at the same party so that is all you need to start a conversation. Someone at the party can help you with school, getting a job, etc. Also, you can find out a lot about certain types of people. Like the saying, you can't judge a book by its cover. In my experience, I met many new people, by just introducing myself and finding something to talk about. Being responsible was something else that was important because I had to look out for friends making sure they got home safely. My trustworthiness was checked out also by looking out for my friends first, and having a good time second. You can learn a lot about someone by their actions at a party.
A party is basically just a microcosm to what happened at "Night on the Row". You see hundreds of people in the same situation as you. You learned so much about Greek life. For example, they do community service and charitable events. People think Greek life is all about having a good time. Did you know that Drexel has some South Asian frats? I would have never known if I did not check it out. I listened to what everyone has to offer because it doesn't hurt someone to check something out. I noticed the type of people at "Night on the Row" were all social and nobody was alone. Everyone was either talking to someone else or just listening in on fraternities. The type of people were type of kids that want to get involved, not just sit in their room studying all day.
Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.
