Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Facebook is not genuine

Facebook does not make us kindly. The constant tracking and always knowing what peoples status are is just annoying and unneeded. Every time that I log in, I am bombard with information about what other people have done when they were last logged in. There pictures, status updates, and profile changes are not as interesting to me as other information. I do not wish to know where all of the my facebook friends are at all times. I never want everyone to know what i am doing, who i am friends with, and where i was this last weekend because of the millions of photos that on are line.

I believe that if someone is interested enough to ask me, or to take the time out of the their day to find out what is going on with me. If they call me, or find a way to have a actual conversation, it means so much more than a wall post. People that I talk to on Facebook i do not consider them interested or at all "real" friends. They are either nosy, or stalkers. The only people that I want to wish me happy birthday are those that remember the date of my birth, or care enough to write it on a calender. The wall posts that i have received on my wall do not mean much. yes, they have taken the 20 seconds to look at the Today event section, click on my name, and type happy birthday, but the true friends will call me, text me, or care enough to see me on my special day. Facebook makes us connected, but it does not make the connections genuine.
