Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Facebook-the face of the young generation

Facebook is changing the world into a different place. You can probably say:- "the world is shrinking!!!".One can easily communicate with someone living miles away at the most minimal cost.Everybody today has relatives and friends scattered across the globe.I believe it is these networking sites like facebook and twitter that are allowing sharing of personal information ,whether it be happy or sad.In times like today when it is very essential to communicate and talk with one another at all times of the day and to know each other's whereabouts, its these social networking sites that come to the rescue.

Although i agree that sometimes these sites can be quite indulgent in ones personal life, but then it is completely upto the person what he/she wants to disclose. One needs to maintain a decorum on the net while disclosing information.I completely believe that these sites are contributing to the younger generation to being more kind to one another.Through these sites students learn how to respect one another as they all know that if they write something derogatory about somebody else, then twenty other of his/her friends might come and say things about the one writing the comment. So people are obligated to write things that will not spoil their own reputation. This kind of brings into the mind a sense of social obligation and responsibility.I also am an avid user of facebook and have seen cases in which somebody wrote some crap about somebody else and he himself inturn got 50 people telling him that he was wrong!and I have also seen cases where the most notorious people turn into the most well mannered people on facebook. Therefore, I am in complete agreement with Mark Zuckerberg and quote him "when you're sharing information publicly, it really incentivizes you to be really good and kind with people."
