It does not mean that Facebook will apply its social up-to-the-second update on people's like would make a person better. Although, it will have an influence on that person. Facebook in the last couple of years have connected millions of people together. Whether it were family, old colleagues, friends, professors, etc... the world was connected on one single interface. Families are united better by viewing each family member's profile update, pictures, or videos. Even holiday greetings otherwise ignored is being outlined between facebook users including birthday dates, refreshed every day. It makes a person kinder when someone "remembers" another persons' birthday and either send him a message on Facebook, call, or face-to-face meet.
Its a regular reminder, of people's life developments although this might seem very extreme that you would know of every tiny change in that persons' life. But it has its benefits, especially if your living far away from your family and friends when you find out that your friend is going to have a baby by looking at her status update, you instantly feel her joy and give her a call, "poke", or even a tiny congratulations on her "wall". And as usual when a person grows and matures his facebook material would mature with him.
Therefore, this helps young people to mature in their behavior and relationships towards others as they get older, its like having a pet and raising it. Its your treatment to the pet (facebook) that would matter in the end and will be judged on. In the end, I believe facebook does make you a better person by communicating socially, strengthening ones social "IQ", and basically keeping in touch by being kind with all your relationships.
Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.
