Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Drexel's Culture
Going to school at Drexel, one quickly learns to be very self-sufficient. This is true of all colleges, but considering the location of our school, it means a little more. We do not have many resources needed by kids our age immediately available to us. Walking is a necessity for most of this and you must find your way around in order to obtain these things. Public transportation is also a slightly complicated and scary task to master. Drexel does make students smarter through education, but street smarts are learned as well. Common sense is not something that can be taught through books or in a class room, but everyone on campus knows not to walk past the campus limits alone at night. The surrounding areas are pretty sketchy and not where you would want to find yourself lost. One other thing, although academically related, is Drexel's co-op program. It gives students real life experience in the work world and a chance to really see what its like outside the safety bubble of college.
