Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Facebook..Kindly?

People have their own opinions and views on popular social sites like Facebook and Twitter. I agree with many of the previous posts regarding the fact that Facebook is what you make of it. Many people today use Facebook to keep relationships close and stay connected with old friends. You can learn more about the interests of people and stay updated on your friend’s lives, and keep up to date with birthdays and upcoming events. But is Facebook really making young people today more “kindly?” I really don’t think so. The reason most teenagers today use Facebook, is to post pictures of the awesome party they went to the other night where they are seen completely wasted, leaving other people quick to judge. I also believe many teenagers have a Facebook to be cool and feel important because you’re letting everyone know where you are at all times and what you’re doing and what you did today and two weeks before last Monday. It’s like a completion to see who has a better, more interesting life. All I can say is that it really is what you make of it. It’s great if you use Facebook to keep in touch with old friends, but to use it as a tool to show off your life or be a creeper and stalk the lives of others is not “kindly” at all.
