Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Drexel----making us smarter!!!

Is Drexel culture making us smarter? I think it is just the way of looking at something.

Most of the people say that going to the late night parties and studying online is just a waste of time and energy. I know they are two different things, but have a very close connection. Late night parties are considered to be plain fun. And for most of the nerdy people, complete waste of resources. But when we see it with a little change, as Steven Johnson; these things are in fact benefiting us and making us smarter. But how? Taking the "The Night on the row" as an example, it was amazing, rocking and what not. I never had so much fun in my entire life, but to everyone's surprise; it kinda made me smarter. Got to know american lifestyle, the way of having fun, architecture, etc.
When we go to parties and social events we meet new people, interact and learn new ways, we get to know different cultures and understand them too. This does make us way more knowledgeable and thus smarter. another example would be the one about PC games. PC games like parties have been termed as a waste of time but in fact Johnson says that PC games helps improve strategic skills in us, thus showing that everything that we term bad for us has a good effect too.
