Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

PHILLY MAKES US SMARTER

Drexel University has a great repuatation in education and is ranked in the top 100 for best colleges in the United States. It is not just the school that gives us our smarts, but the location of the school. Philadelphia makes us smarter and is a place with endless oppurtunity. The city life is much different than life in the suburbs. Being here in Philadelphia is an amazing experience and teaches you some valuble lessons. I was quick to learn that it is extremely important to be aware of your sorroundings at all times or you could quickly be mugged, or even hit by a car. Philadelphia is a wonderful place to live, but it is not the safest. Living in the city will teach you how to be street smart. Here in Philadelphia you will see some really weird things. Some things you wouldn't see in the suburbs back home. This brings you out of your little bubble and shows you what goes on in this world and how crazy some people can be. In this city you will find many people who are homeless and who are not as fortunate as us. This teaches us how to appreciate and be grateful for what we have, because we are lucky to be at school and getting an education. This makes us smarter because it keeps us motivated to stay in school, so that we are not in their shoes in the future. In Philly there are so many people you can learn from and so many different types of people. With a diverse group of people you are introduced to different cultures and beliefs that you can learn from and that is why Philadelphia makes us smarter.
