Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Women of the World
The article "Global Feminism and Transformative Identity Politics" discusses the similarities woman all around the world share, and ways they can unite as an international feminist movement. There is much talk about 3rd world feminism versus western feminism. While both groups need to continue to move forward individually, they need to work together to make sure women all around the world receive human rights. There are many connections drawn between feminism and a woman's identity. Women all around the world need to know who they are, and feminism can help define that. Dealing with issues involving reproductive choice, domestic violence, workforce, and basic discrimination all help define who these feminist women are, no matter where they come from. Although women in different countries, or even in the same country, may approach these issues from different angles, these are still the most predominant concerns of global women. All feminists are trying to raise awareness of the mistreatment of women, and are united in a fight for freedom and equal opportunity. In keeping global unity through feminism, women of the world must respect one another's opinions. It doesn't matter what the opinion is, the point is that women have a say in their society.
