After going through many articles posted, I chose this one because I felt that it had very correct relevance to the scenario of what is happening today and the way it is affecting the youth culture of our society.
The author poses the question of “how badly movie culture is is affecting the society and what are the factors contributing to this?” I think that these things are true. The movies these days are filled with unwanted elements like inappropriate sex scenes, profanity and other substances like nudity and violence, murder and rape. If young teenage children go and watch such cinema, it is but obvious that it will affect them. When a person is young the mind is growing. And wrong thoughts do enter the mind. Such things like movies further cultivate these wrong thoughts and may even contribute to making them into actions. In fact all of us must surely have experienced some effect of some movie on us sometime or the other in our lives. I second the author in criticizing the parents of children, who allow their children to go to the movies which are inappropriate for their viewing and in fact even help them to purchase tickets for the show. It’s quite embarrassing to see that people actually do that. Such things are teaching the young future of our world to learn wrong things. It may contribute to making them feel that things like drugs, abuse, sex at a young age and profanity as normal and “cool”. I also feel that the author has correctly pointed out that the celebrities are leading to children getting influenced to dress badly and behave badly and rashly in public. The celebrities should realize that they are a role model to the youth and that the young children watch them and get influenced by them. The celebrities, on the other hand (there are quite a few exceptions as well), dress badly, behave violently, do drugs and engage in unwanted social activities. These things are also unnecessarily publicized by the media, and shown to the public, which in turn is watched by the kids who get influenced and find this entire stuff cool and hip. I agree with the author on the point that only if parents instill good values in their children, will the children to have a bright future and correct habits. And only then will the “wrong” not turn into “right”!
Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.
