Facebook has just recently in the past few years become a phenomenal hit among college and high school students, and, according to some, is making people more social and interactive. I agree with the thought that it is making people more social. It is an open environment (for the most part) and people join groups together, attend events together, and make friends that have many similarities.
These groups that people join are a great way to meet new people, make friends that like what you like, and gain the networking skills you need to succeed after college. In the short scheme of things facebook might just seem like a waste of time, but in the long run, it is a helpful tool that employees can even use to find out who you are as a person. They can find where you have worked in the past, where you volunteer(ed), and what kind of education you have.
Overall I believe that facebook has a positive impact, even though it takes up a lot of time for some people. Yes, it can give out a lot of information sometimes, but there is always the privacy setting where only your friends can see your profile. Facebook is growing too fast for its own good, but it is helping millions of people out on the way.
Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.
