Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

When the NFL and Human Culture Collide... Violently
Personally, I have never been a huge football fan. Occasionally I'll sit down and watch a game with some friends, but it's never had a huge draw for me. I have to admit though, it is relaxing to pass the time watching a ball game, and it's definitely a conversation starter. However, about bringing out the best in human nature, I'd have to disagree. Philadelphia sports teams in particular are well known for their die-hard fans. I grew up in South Jersey, predominately a home for Philly fans. I can think of at least a dozen examples, in the four years I spent in high school, of fights breaking out over something related to the Eagles. I'm not trying to say that sports are not a good thing - quite the contrary. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say, "The good in human culture is defined by the emotions that are bought out during sporting events."
