Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

trojan promotion

so my immediate impression upon reading this essay, is what really formed my new questions. I immediately assumed that since a college student, someone my age, would be enthusiastic about the trojan promotion thing on the volleyball courts. i assumed they would be talking about how funny it was or how great it was for promoting safe sex, which everyone now days would agree is good. As i continued to read i found that the person thought it was inappropriate. This was strange to me and almost came off prude or from an older peson to be so uptight about sex. After all it was to promote safe sex within in a environment that's constantly hooking up and even when monogamus usually have a sexual aspect to their relationship. So my question was even though we all agree that safe sex is good, where do we stand on the promotion of it? I dont mean just generally do we think it promotes sexual activity or promiscuity, but more specifically, how does someone of my generation really percieve it? Most college students share a very liberal mind frame. How many of us are really that conservative and why? I then thought ok maybe religion, and how someone is raised, but everyone has heard of the catholic girl gone wild. Even those raised in the most religious and conservative environments turn a little to the wild side in college. So where really do we stand on this issue? Just because our society has become more sexually aware, more sexually open, doesnt mean that sex or sexuality is accepted or approved.
