Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Response to "A Waste Of Insomnia"

A question posed in "A Waste of Insomnia," is that Americans are lazy, overweight, and dependent.  The conventional wisdom given is that " We always seemingly have the luxuries that other countries do not.  Excess food, comfortable housing, stable education systems; the list goes on."   On the contrary, I think the statement that "Americans are lazy" is a harsh generalization.  According to the author, a lazy person is one who "Lies around and watches television all day and just sleeps."  While it is clear that some people are certainly are too lazy to use proper syntax (harsh, I know),  I would say that the majority of Americans are honest, hard working folks.  America has the 10th highest employment rate in the world, which is clearly a testament to our ability to work and create jobs.  And, despite what you may have thought, Americans do NOT watch the most TV.  The number one boob-tubing country is, of course, Thailand, followed by the Phillippines, Egypt, Turkey, and Indonesia.  Duh.  Finally, my most important piece of evidence is that everyone on this blog has taken the time out of their busy lives to complete this wonderful homework assignment.  Laziness? I think not.
