Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Response to: The "Hook Up" Culture

In the essay the "Hook-Up" Culture, the author poses the question “Why has traditional dating been eradicated for instant sexual gratification in?” Many possible answers are explored, such as the affects of alcohol, the lack of time for commitment, and the attractiveness of inexpensive courtship. Yet contrary to common belief that only college students are interested in instant sexual gratification, “hooking up” has been adapted as a common practice by high school students and even working adults. The attractiveness of “no-strings attached” has caught the eye of teenagers as young as fourteen and continued to seduce adults up until and sometimes past their wedding day. The statistics on sexually active teenagers and number of divorces a result of a wandering eye are mind-boggling. So no matter what the reason for the emergence of the “hook up” culture over the past four decades, it would be ignorant to associate casual sex solely to the college-dating scene.
