I read the article "To Catch a Song Thief: Inside the Anti-Pirate Patrol." This article discusses how the Recording Industry Association of America is tracking down on students using illegal file sharing. It explains how the RIAA releases songs to the networks that hackers download from. Hidden in the song is a file that allows the RIAA to track who is downloading what. Essentially the RIAA is infecting computers of those who use popular programs such as limewire, frostwire, and utorrent. As a user of these programs I advise all other users to read this article so you can protect yourself. It is still possible to download without getting caught, you just have to learn how to determine which files to download. The article goes more depth how these files are tracked and how you can get around the RIAA software.
Text messaging is becoming more popular everyday. I prefer texting over calling because it is a more efficient way to send a small message. It is also more convenient. I can text my friend while their in class knowing that they will see it later and it won't disturb them. Calling someone creates a distraction.
Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.
