Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Misconseptions about greek life
Multiple essays that I read from our class were about the topic of greek life and our experiences with it as new Drexel freshmen. An interesting thing that I noticed in many of them was that their initial views about sororities and fraternities from stereotypes and pop culture were very far off from the reality here at Drexel. Most people probably think of greek life in college and associate it with big parties, drinking and other risky activities. While, of course, there is some of that here many of the frats and sororities are very proud of their academic and civil achievements. This is true from my experiences of learning about the fraternities too. I’m not exactly sure if this is the norm at other colleges around the country but I’ve been presently surprised to find this here.
