After reading "Freedom's Curse", I decided to take the line 'Would you ever say "Nothing has gone wrong yet" without looking for wood to know?', and make my tangential connection to another article through superstition. I searched the Drexel Library for scholarly articles regarding superstition and came across the article "From Catholic Priest to Atheist Psychologist: A Memoir". After reading it, I'm not exactly sure what it had to do with superstition or why it was a result under that search but I decided to go with it anyway.
The article is rundown of this man's life from birth to where he is now. He was the 6th born child, 2nd male, of his family and was designated by his mother at an early age to become involved in priesthood. He went through all of his schooling resisting temptations, trying to live a faithful life before attending 6 years of seminary. Following that, he went to a monastery for 11 years where he became a priest and a teacher. During the end of his monotonous stay, he began to question his faith, God's existence, and basically everything he had been learning from a young age.
Once he broke free from what he thought for so long to be his life, he followed his aspirations of going to school for psychology, married a woman who was as passionate about teaching as he was, and eventually opened his own private practice.
