Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Effects on Cognitive Performance Due to Games

The article, "The effect of violent and non-violent computer games on cognitive performance", discussed about effects on cognitive performance due to video games. Studies showed that participants who did not play games had no effect on their cognitive performance. It simply remained the same. However, participants who did play games improved and increased their cognitive performance. Reason behind why participants increase their cognitive performance from video games is due to the fact that the participants must respond to such amounts of stimuli in order to complete the game. Doing so, they incorporate to real life situations and strategic thinking. From my perspective, I do agree with the increased performance. It helped me, at least what I think, to think in different ways and improve my problem solving.

Scholarly articles gives helpful facts for greater knowledge on any topic, and also helps supports arguments needed for written reports. It gives a fair share of stats, observation, etc that can all be proven if experimentation is necessary.
