Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...

This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.

We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.

That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Come Again?

The article I picked was “Somebody Ought to Give a Darn,” by John Leo. The article talks about the major appearance of the “F” word in recent culture. The word is becoming almost too common. The article then examines movies and comedies as huge facilitators for the use of the “F” word. The word is also now appearing in many newspapers. Possible reasons are due to acceptance of sex in modern culture.
The connection of the two articles is very simple. Both articles describe a word or words that are becoming more and more common in our language. The words that once were taboo are now more accepted. Popular culture like t.v. and movies are allowing us to accept these taboo words.
