Welcome to 32nd and Chestnut...
This is the blog for 75 or so Drexel students, most of whom are new to college and new to Drexel.
We'll document the strangeness of college life, try to translate our experience for diverse readers, and chronicle what it means to be a college student during these crazy days of economic turmoil and political battle.
That's it for now; I have to go an play Spore.

Response to The "Hook-Up" Culture
In this story the author poses the question of whether or not "hooking up" at parties has a negative effect on the actual dating and social interaction between two people. The way i see it is that it does not have a negative effect. Yes, people make stupid mistakes when they are drunk, but that doesnt mean they also dont make up for things as well. If there is one thing that alcohol does the most, it is taking away the shyness from everything. Maybe being shameless isnt a good thing sometimes, but it really helps people bring out their inner selves without thinking twice. Obviously there are occasional negative effects to that, but all in all people are themselves. Two people dont have to go through all the awkward moments of dating and setting up times to meet each other and socialize. All of the awkward moments are completely diminished because each person has met, talked with, and seen all of the embarassing moments, so they have a laugh or they talk the next day without any problems. Im not saying that i personally would do this, but it is a method of meeting new people without any hassle. It may not be the most conventional way, or the way that our parents would prefer, but if it allows us to keep expanding our social network, as well as our comfort around others, then it has to have some positive aspects that make us want to come back the next weekend and do it all over again.
