countries?" These questions all have a theme of how much America loves football and baseball, but when it comes to soccer, many look the other way. People watch soccer, but many do not appreciate it. In other countries soccer is everything, it is watched religiously, but in America it is not. The writer thinks that soccer does not make the profit as do other sports because there are not as many breaks for commercials. The author also wonders why there are so many kids that play soccer, but most never pursue it professionally, which does not make much sense. Also, the author points out, that most do not see the "action" in soccer, and only see the "lack of scoring."
The conventional wisdom shown in this paper is that soccer should be watched more, but yet many people think that soccer is boring and not worth watching. The author wants to make awareness that soccer in unappreciated in America and that it really is an exciting sport to watch. I personally, do not like soccer and would never watch it. The author's paper makes a compelling argument, but I still do not want to watch it only television, or live. I understand the author's view point, but I still do not understand why soccer is a good sport. Most people like soccer because they play it, but maybe they like it from watching European soccer, which is said to be much more competitive.
This paper had compelling questions that makes you think about soccer in a new light. Although, the posed questions made me think about why soccer is not as big in America, my personal view on soccer was not changed. The reasons the author said many disliked soccer made me wonder why I dislike it. Most people do not like soccer because it may be boring, but maybe they do not like it because it is confusing and not compelling enough to get hooked on. The questions were good and may change other people's points of view.
